Yesterday was a very different day for me. The girls from the evening were whispering; it seemed that they were planning to do something. When their whisper went longer unlike other days, it made me curious. The girls were doing ups and down whispering around for more than 20 minutes. At the evening, elder daughter came to me and asked hesitantly, “Mom can we buy chips tomoroow? “ I said okay. Then she again asked,” ..and kurkure too? “ I nodded my head. A happiness floated in her face. I asked,” hummm, you are going to celebrate someone’s birthday, right? With a misterious smile, she went in another room. After half an hour younger girl came to me and asked,” Mom, can we cook finger chips at home?” I was surprised and asked, “ Who will cook? You can’t cook.” She instantly with glowing her eyes replied, “Not me. Sisters will cook”. By then the elder girl came. Slowly and hesitently, her friend appeared too. They said, “ we will cook”. As I responded positively, they become so happy and vanished from there.
Just before the bed, my elder daughter asked to wake up her tomorow at 6 o'clock. I, in curiosity enquired what the reason, though I had sensed due to these teens behaviour. But I wanted t oknow from themselves. She slowly replied that they are going to celebrate their group's b'day. They need to do some preparation in the early morning. I was thinking it might be someone's birthday but group's b'day? It was totally new to me. Then I remembered their mumering different tunes. It was the 'gang's' symbol! Whne the girls find me curious and interested in their thought, they narrated about their thoughts. They had named their 'gang' as 'awesome bloosome', they had created a musical tune to call represent the 'gang', and moreoever they had code words for each of the gang member. It was very exciting for me too. My teenage days were in front of my eyes. Suddenly I realized that my girl has become young.. young enough to be a teen! Wow, I felt, for a second, that I am in the teenage while she was describing all plannings for the day. The younger one was following her sister. And she was excited too!
The next day, she wake up early in the morning whne I was still in bed. I donot know when she, with her neighbourhood friend had writien the name of thier gang Awesome blosome' in a big chart paper. I even donot know when she came again under the rug in the bed.
The afternoon was the event day for them. The whole day, the girls were busy in decorating the stairs with papers, baloons, and flowers. They cooked potato chips. They bought cold drink and other variety of chips. At about 4 o'clock in the evening, the smallest one cut the ribbon, rest clapped with a big smile in face. They, then sang their tune, a 'logo' of this 'gang'. They enjoy a lot.
This was a very different day for me; a day when I realized my girl has grown up,the little one has entered into a diffferent world, teen's world! She now has a different need, she needs now more privacy. I might feel that she will be away from me, but I have to understand that she will from now will exercise her independency more but will come back to me whenever I will be needed for her. Now I can talk to her as more like a grown up child. But hold on, she is still a child...but a child who has entred into the teens world. Welcome dear into teen's world!
